[Listening - Sunday Kind of Love by Ella Fitzgerald]
in a further attempt to embarrass myself, i was talking to some friends about cds that i used to be obsessed with… sometimes a good idea, other times, not really… anyway… here are some of the pretty sweet ones…
- Bedtime Stories — Madonna — (this is the first cd that i can remember listening to over and over again… i’m pretty sure i just found it in mom’s cd collection and the continued to sleep to it for nights on end… probably not the best idea, but i must admit, the memories are good… i mean seriously, who doesn’t think their child should listen to madonna at the age of ten or so?… haha… priceless)
- The Sign — Ace of Base — (i’m not really sure that the whole cd got a lot of play time, but “The Sign” definitely did… i think this was one of the first cds that i actually picked out… scary, but true)
- Tuesday Night Movie Club — Sheryl Crow — (absolutely loved this cd… and i’m not going to lie, i still do… and i still know every single word to every single song… what does that say about me?… not really sure… and honestly, if it’s bad, i don’t care… love it)
- Tyrese — Tyrese — (definitely lived on this cd for a couple of years… i think it was fifth and sixth grade… or somewhere around there… oh “Sweet Lady”, what a brilliant song… haha… no but seriously… this cd saved me during soccer road trips… i’m pretty sure it never left my cd player until it wouldn’t play anymore… and i’m not ashamed)
- The Diary of Alicia Keys — Alicia Keys — (this cd was a bit like the tyrese cd for me… i’m pretty sure it didn’t leave my cd player in the trooper/bug until it absolutely would not play anymore… seriously, it had to be good if it made it through two cars… plus, i’m pretty sure she helped me to be comfortable in my skin as a strong, proud black woman… hahaha… not even kidding)
and now…
Cat Power
it’s amazing how things change… and i’m soooooooo thankful that they do… good times, though… good times…
i want a sunday kind of love…
