the ole graduation went well… well, the ceremony was super boring as usual, but I was pampered all day by my friends, which was awesome… i had to be at the theatre at eight thirty for graduation… it took what seemed like forever to finish… one guys gave possibly the worse speech i have ever heard in my entire life… it was actually incredibly embarrassing… also, James Ivory was an honorary degree recipient, which was pretty sweet… that was pretty much the highlight of the ceremony… oh that and the beautiful “costumes” the faculty and administration had to wear… always fun…
then afterwards there was a reception with champagne and finger foods, both of which I absolutely love… mostly the finger foods i’m obsessed with, but together it was kinda pefect… and my friend Julia brought me flowers, which was super sweet… i then chatted it up for a while with my friends and professors, you know… got to have some sweet conversations with the couple professors that i love… they were, of course, super encouraging… going to miss a couple of them a lot…
aprés, my friend Erik took me to eat lunch at the Hotel Costes, this really really really nice hotel in Paris… it was absolutely amazing… i ate some petits nems (spring rolls) and some of Erik’s king crab mayo, which was incredibly fresh and amazing… and then i at the crispy duck, which i am in love with… it was pretty much a perfect mixture of food and conversation in an incredibly beautiful atmosphere…
i then went home hoping to nap, but had absolutely no time, of course… since i couldn’t sleep the night before, this was crucial… but you know how it goes… sometimes you have to just tough it out…
then, i went to Dominique’s apartment… she had brought me chocolates from Switzerland and a bottle of champagne, both which equal perfection… so, we hung out and had some champagne while getting ready for our graduation gala… you know, chatting, being stupid, and primping… always makes for an interesting combination with us…
aprés ça, Dominique and Julia took me out to eat at Kong, a really nice restaurant (that was also on Sex and the City)… it was, of course, amazing… we ordered a bottle of champagne, and then had great food… Dominique and i split the crab and avocado salad for entrée, and then i had the tuna steak with snow peas… i was a little stuffed from lunch so i didn’t finish it, but it was fabulous… i must admit, i’m a sucker for the tuna steak… it was a really nice dinner… basically, my friends rock…
then we head to the graduation party, which was held at La Pavillion Dauphine… hung out for hours and hours on end (mingling, dancing, talking) and ended up home (well, at their place) at around five in the morning… wowza… Julia still hadn’t packed for her flight that left this morning, so i stayed up to force her to do that… then we went to bed and got all of two and a half hours of sleep before she had to get up and leave for the airport… not going to lie, it was intense… definitely feeling it at this point…
all in all, it was an absolutely amazing day…
oh I also forgot to mention… i graduated Summa Cum Laude and with Departmental Honors with a degree in International Communications, with a focus in Media Studies, for those of you that are still confused about that… ha…
ok… my movie marathon is calling…
express yourself, don’t repress yourself…
p.s. Julia took pictures for me all day long, so as soon as she develops them, and I have them, I’ll be sure and post them for your guys to see… my graduation and my bangs in all their crazy glory…
