So the other day I had an epiphany of sorts. I think I may have figured out what it is that I want to do with my life. Surprising, huh? Anyway, we talked about it in our first collegium this Friday, and I said to myself: “Self. I think we could do this. And I think we could be really happy doing this, self.” And just like that, the decision was made.
No but really, I’m looking into music supervision. Basically and incredibly simply, they get scripts from movies/tv and they pick music that fits with that particular scene (which in turn has to be licensed to fit budget). I did a lot of research on it today, and quite honestly, I think it would be an amazing job.
I’m not really sure how to get into this, but I’m working on figuring out the best way to get involved with something like that. Most music supervisors are based in Hollywood, but I’m living New York City. There has to be somewhere I can work that is involved with music supervision. And everything be damned, I’m going to find it.
i’m hot ’cause i’m fly… you ain’t ’cause you not… (what?)
P.S. Into The Wild is amazing. Go see it. Now! No really, stop reading this and go see the movie. The 9:50 showing should be about right.
P.S.S. If you happen to be still reading and not heading to the movie (why?), then I must at least pitch this. If you happen to be in a giving mood, there are two books that I really want on music supervision and can’t afford that the moment: Music Supervision: The Complete Guide to Selecting Music for Movies, TV, Games and New Media and The Indie Guidebook to Music Supervision for Film. That would be amazing (and super helpful).
